We all have those moments and people in life that help define who we are and what we’ll become.  If you’re lucky and aware, you can see them falling into place as they appear.  I can say that my fortune is having a life filled with moments, people and DOGS.  All of these have given me an understanding and appreciation of who I am and of life itself.  Nigel was one of those dogs and I continue to learn from him every day.

   I believe we make connections with souls before entering life – connections we can’t explain, just intuitively know.  I was always captivated by Nigel’s eyes, the windows to the soul.  I didn’t know what I was captured by until Nigel left this earthly place and I had bonded with so many more dogs.  It was his soul that I saw; it was a familiar soul that I felt in Nigel.  Nigel was a predestined connection and the first of many that would teach me so much and illuminate my path in life.

   Though Nigel’s time with me was short, it was nothing short of powerful. I began to look at life differently; look inward, seek more knowledge and believe in what I feel.  Nigel’s simple presence became a catalyst for my transformation.  And, yes, Nigel LOVED Beyonce’s song Halo.  It came on the radio often when we were out cruising.

    I know I see each soul immediately when I look into a dog’s eyes.  There is no confusion to what stares back.  As I work with a dog, the eyes soften and the soul truly begins to emerge.  Every now and then I meet a dog who has a soul that I somehow absolutely know already.  There is a conversation we have through the eyes and soul, no works needed – just knowing that we’ve met before.  Knowing that we would not have met again, if I was not on the right path.
